What is Remapping?

We have more than 10 years experience with fuel injected vehicles including today’s complex engine management controlled systems fitted to both petrol and diesels. These systems were virtually un-tunable until now! If you own a petrol or diesel vehicle aged 1999 or later it can be remapped in some cases older vehicles can be tuned but the coverage is limited. Some vehicles cannot be tuned via a remap but that is not the only option. Tuning boxes are available for a number of petrol and diesel applications as well as our performance parts options.

 

The Tuning Process or Remapping:

• The modern engine is electronically controlled by sensors within the engine all governed by a central control unit or ECU

• Sensors send signals to an onboard computer (ECU) which uses the data to determine operating conditions and optimises them.

• The onboard computer or ECU rapidly and continuously adjusts parameters to suit the varying driving conditions to give smooth engine  operation over varied loads and atmospheric conditions.

• We can make enhancements to the ECUs programming which improves how the engine control unit uses data from the sensors delivering improved torque and horsepower without jeopardising the reliability of the engine.

How is this done?

• Prior to any work we always carry out diagnostic and if possible road test's to ensure all is well with your vehicle.

• We will then discuss the type of remap you require or advise you if you’re not sure.

• At this point using our remapping software we extract the tuning data file held within the ECU. This can be done via the OBD (onboard diagnostic port) or via a bench connection also known as BDM (back door module) which involves direct connection to the internal circuitry of the ECU.

The Remapping process is completely bespoke so you can now choose how you want your vehicle to drive:

 

• It can be Tuned for Power and performance

• It can be Tuned for Economy and reduced carbon emissions

• DPF and Egr Solutions, speed limiter removal and dtc(diagnostic trouble code) removal.

Whether you tow a caravan and want more torque, or you may want better fuel economy or you just want a better driving experience the choice is yours!!

Please note every remap is written individually. We do not use generic or stored files to be used over and over again.

Economy Tuning

With fuel prices consistently increasing tuning your vehicle for improved fuel economy is a great money saving tool , we are able to adjust the ECU calibrations to improve fuel efficiency saving you money day after day. The increase in torque allows the engine to work more efficiently meaning less gear changes and reduced effort in daily driving resulting in improved MPG and drivability.

Stage 1 Tuning

Stage 1 tuning is designed to work with a standard and unmolested vehicle with no hardware or mechanical upgrades. A Stage 1 tune increases power and torque delivery whilst also improving fuel efficiency if driven appropriately. Stage 1 tuning helps to remove flat spots and improves throttle response vastly improving your driving experience without compromising on reliability.

Stage 2 Tuning

Stage 2 Tuning gives bigger increase in power and torque than a Stage 1 Remap,  fuel efficiency will still improve but not as dramatically as a Stage 1 Tune this type of tune is primarily focused on improving vehicle performance. In most cases mechanical upgrades/hardware upgrades are required before a Stage 2 Remap can be applied. maximises performance for the mechanical upgrades fitted to the vehicle this gives a more responsive drive without compromising reliability.
